The Ghosting Phase of Semi Permanent Make up.

The "ghosting phase" refers to a specific stage in the healing process of the tattooed area, particularly for procedures like eyebrow tattoos, eyeliner, or lip blush. It typically occurs within the first few days or weeks after the procedure when the pigment appears to "fade" or "disappear" from the skin. This happens as the skin begins to shed its top layer (the scab or crust) as part of the natural healing process.

Key Features of the Ghosting Phase:

1. Fading or Loss of Pigment

Right after the procedure, the colour may appear bold and intense, but during the healing process, the pigment can seem to "ghost" or disappear. This is often due to the body’s healing response, which can push out some of the pigment.

2. Healing and Shedding:

The "ghosting" is typically temporary. As the skin heals and sheds dead cells, the pigment may seem to disappear or look lighter than expected. This phase can last several days.

3. Pigment Stabilisation:

After the ghosting phase, the pigment will start to stabilise and settle into the skin, becoming more vibrant and true to colour. The final result usually becomes clearer after a few weeks, after any excess pigment has been naturally exfoliated away.

4. Importance of Aftercare:

Proper aftercare is crucial during this phase. Avoiding picking at scabs, excessive moisture, or sun exposure helps the healing process and ensures the pigment retains its full vibrancy after the ghosting phase subsides.

The ghosting phase can be unsettling for clients who are unfamiliar with the healing process, but it's a normal part of getting semi-permanent makeup, and the final result looks great after the skin has fully healed.

Trust the process!
